What size shoe you buy if you are in the weight range for both sizes? Is this particular model a good choice for an all-round shoe?

Or if you notice a noise when they're springing? I was asking out on a backpacker website and I think I ran into a bunch of "light is right" duders who just hated the idea of the antishock and so couldn't comment on any positives of it.

Black Diamond Whippet Self-Arrest Ski Pole

OK I guess BD doesn't make the Whippet in a 3 piece pole like the Expeditions. I like the Expeditions because i snowboard and they're small enough to fit inside my pack or strap to the outside without towering above my head.

Can i chop the top half of a whippet down to a better size and insert the bottom two pieces of the Expeditions or will the diameter just not match up?

Thanks. I realize this question seems nuts if you're a skiier.

If you look at Mr Lightcap's picture below (JJ's post) it looks like a 3-piece whippet.

MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoe

I have never snowshoed before, but plan on starting this year because i just moved to Montana. I don't really know what snow conditions i will be in but i assume that there will be some deeper powder, which seems to be the only issue with these shoes. Never been through a winter here so not sure what to expect here, i plan to be mostly in the Beartooth-Absaroka mts and Yellowstone. From all the reviews ive read, in any conditions other than deep powder, these shoes are unrivaled. For now, i only want one pair of shoes. Im 6 ft 3 in and 225 lb with out gear. Are the 30's the right shoes for me?

MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoe - Women's

I had been renting MSR's all last winter, so I purchased the MSR Women's 22" Lightning Ascent Snowshoes toward the end of the season. Long story short, they both are for the left foot, not left and right. That's why I got such a good price. I love the fit, the traction, and even how easy they slip on and off. My questions is: Is there a way to get just the bindings for the right foot if I should want to do so in the future? Or, is there a way to just get one right snowshoe instead of the pair? Thanks!
