Backcountry Access Tracker DTS Beacon

I've had my tracker for 2.5 years now and I've noticed that the search fxn tends to pause flashing "SE" on the screen, sometimes for up to 10 - 15 secs. When it pauses I'm usually not moving unduly fast nor am I flipping the beacon around or moving/holding it strange. This has become very frustrating and sometimes can slow me down considerably during practice if it happens 4 or 5 times as it has. Is this just how the beacon operates? If so I'm selling it and getting the T2 or a Mammut. I mostly ski B/C and don't need to stare at my beacon flashing SE at me when someone actually is buried.

Black Diamond Whippet Self-Arrest Ski Pole

OK I guess BD doesn't make the Whippet in a 3 piece pole like the Expeditions. I like the Expeditions because i snowboard and they're small enough to fit inside my pack or strap to the outside without towering above my head.

Can i chop the top half of a whippet down to a better size and insert the bottom two pieces of the Expeditions or will the diameter just not match up?

Thanks. I realize this question seems nuts if you're a skiier.

If you look at Mr Lightcap's picture below (JJ's post) it looks like a 3-piece whippet.

Osprey Packs Switch 26 Pack - 1500-1700cu in

I am looking for a stout day pack to be used in a variety of conditions from desert heat to Eastern Sierra snow.

After viewing the video posted above, I think that this pack may address my needs as related to an outdoor photographer. I am wondering if anyone could comment on the use of this pack to haul a 3-5 pound tripod on the back (like the shovel in the video), and also be able to carry my DLSR camera body, and two or three lenses, plus my snacks, first aid, etc...

Most camera packs are not intended for backcountry use, including my current Tamrac, which has fabulous features, but not rugged enough and lacks moderate protection from the elements. I greatly appreciate your opinions and observations regarding the ability of this pack to cross-over for a photographer !! ~ jeff
