Nikwax Softshell Proof Wash In

Any suggestions on how to get the funk outta the clothing after you wash with this stuff? Normally I wouldn't care, but I have my town softshell, and I really don't want to smell while wearing this jacket or after.

Let me clarify: The smell I'm complaining of is from the Nikwax. It gets the other odors out from the clothing, but there is an awful funk that takes forever to air out. Any ideas how to get rid of it quicker without washing it again in a soap free cycle?

I've already got the outerwear covered (mostly Gore-Tex) but I still need a solution for my backpack (carries overpriced college books, and a laptop most of the time).

Does anyone have experience with using this water repellent on packs? how effective is it and if it goes a long period without getting wet (no rain) does the coating dry up and flake off? (or in general become less effective?)

Nikwax TX-Direct Spray-On

I've tried using this on a lightweight rain jacket that has an outer nylon layer and an inner waterproof/breathable layer (not Gore-tex). I followed the directions and washed the jacket in tek wash, and then applied the spray as directed. I tested it, and water was NOT beading up on the jacket, so I tried applying it without washing first. But once again, water is still not beading up, just soaking into the outer nylon layer. Everyone has such great things to say about this stuff, I can't help but thinking I'm doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Nikwax TX Direct Wash In

I have an Osprey Aether pack, would this work well for waterproofing it? Or what combo of Nikwax products would work best for my pack? I know they reccomend Tech wash, UV proof & Tent/Gear proof. It just seems like this would be a great product to add to the lineup for my pack. I am all about getting as much life out of my pack as possible. I guess what I'm asking is, would adding this to the three products I'm already using, be excessive?
