Redfeather Snowshoes Explore Series Snowshoe

In my experience, the newer snowshoes don't provide enough flotation for backcountry use where I live. The only ones that have worked for me are the old stick and rawhide shoes with a huge surface area. Are there any modern products available that provide enough surface area to stay on top deep, dry powder snow in the north woods?

Redfeather Snowshoes Trek 360 Snowshoe

Hello my Backcountry friends. My parents are getting into snowshoeing and I don't know the slightest about the products. They will be used for casual hikes/exploring, mostly on trails so no real deep stuff. What do you recommend for a easy to use snowshoe? At what weights / snow conditions should I look at for the different sizes of shoes? Thanks for the help. -Eric-

So can you please compare the two for me and advise. They'll be used for snow trekking with my Husky dogs. Thanks, Janie Worth
